Community College of Philadelphia’s Liberal Arts and Communications pathway invites you to join them for a reading, discussion and Q&A session with distinguished College alumnus Joseph Earl Thomas. Jeffrey S. Markovitz, Ph.D., assistant professor of English, will host the event.

Joseph Earl Thomas is a writer from Northeast Philly whose work has appeared or is forthcoming in Philadelphia Stories, Gulf Coast, The Offing, and The Kenyon Review. He has an MFA in prose from the University of Notre Dame and is now a Ph.D. student in English at the University of Pennsylvania. A section of his memoir, Sink, won the 2020 Chautauqua Janus Prize and he has received fellowships from Fulbright, VONA, Tin House and Bread Loaf. He’s taught at the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of the Arts. Represented by PJ Mark at Janklow & Nesbit, Joseph is writing the novel God Bless You, Otis Spunkmeyer, and a collection of stories: Leviathan Beach.
